Raphael Koikoi
Rev. Raphael K. Koikoi is a pastor, practical theologian, and missional leader whose ministry is shaped by a conviction that the Church must be actively present and transformational in the lives of marginalized people and communities. Serving the United Methodist Church under pastoral appointment since 2011 across urban centers and small-town contexts, he approaches ministry not as a set of programs but as a lived posture of faith in action. Grounded in a justice-oriented theology and guided by the call in James 2 to embody faith through works, Rev. Koikoi has consistently led congregations to engage their neighborhoods through intentional efforts to address economic empowerment, access to health and wellness, and social justice.
With roots in Christian Education and community-centered leadership, Rev. Koikoi has shepherded congregations across multiple conferences, fostering ministries that bridge faith and public life while honoring dignity and cultural diversity. From historic urban churches to multi-ethnic suburban communities, his leadership reflects a commitment to building sustainable relationships, nurturing new leaders, and advancing equity locally and globally. A native of Liberia, he is also deeply engaged in nonprofit work supporting educational access and opportunity in Liberia, West Africa. Across all contexts, Rev. Koikoi’s work is marked by a passion for thoughtful, compassionate action that strengthens communities and reflects the transformative love of Christ.
