AEBCF Visits John F. Kennedy Medical Center

AEBCF visited the John F. Kennedy Medial Center in Monrovia, Liberia’s leading institution for advanced medical care and education. AEBCF met with Dr. J. Emmanuel Tamba, Chief Medical Officer of JFK, and Dr. Deddeh Supuwood, currently the only medical oncologist in Liberia, among other senior officers. The wide-ranging discussion covered, among other topics, disparities reflected in the advanced state-of-the-art treatment and surgery options available in many countries, versus the limited treatment options and continued use of radical surgery procedures still prevalent in Liberia. AEBCF donated a collection of mastectomy bras with built-in prostheses to JFK, to be provided to women with financial needs who had undergone radical mastectomies.
